Get Cat Eyes with Costume Contacts

Costume contact lenses offer Halloween partiers the opportunity to distinguish themselves from those who bought the first thing that they saw at the Halloween costume shop.  It's an especially great way for those wearing a cat costume to set themselves apart, since cat costumes are popular among both children and adults.  And because cat's eyes are well known for their distinguishing characteristics from human eyes, wearing Halloween costume contact lenses is a simple and easy addition to enhance your cat costume.  If your friends look you in the eye while you are in your cat costume, you want your friends to see cat eyes and not your regular eyes, right?

In the past, halloween costumes were homemade by the parents of the children before they took them trick-or-treating.  Things are so much more advanced now that Halloween has grown into a more commercial holiday.  Professional costume designers can make more complex costumes then your parents ever could.  As more and more people have turned to buying Halloween costumes in stores and online, people tend to choose from the same small set of costumes.  That's when the accessories become much more important in distinguishing the casual Halloween shopper from the truly great costume planner.  Everyone is willing to spend a few dollars to ensure that they aren't trapped at a halloween party without a costume.  But only the truly committed have a shot at winning the best costume contest at their party.  If that's your goal and you would like to be a cat for halloween, you had better find your contact lenses now.

If you have a cat, you know that the pupil of your cat's eyes are different than your own.  Cat's eyes have an elongated pupil with a yellow-green iris.  If you are going to be 100% in character as a cat for Halloween, then you're going to have to alter your eyes to complement your Halloween costume.

Fortunately, novelty contact lenses can change the appearance of your eyes to match the eyes of a cat without much effort on your part.  By wearing a special contact lens, you can change the appearance of your eye's color and shape to match that of a cat.  The lenses will decorate your iris with a colored portion and blend your human pupil into the shape of the pupil of a cat.

CIBA Vision has a set of popular cat eye contacts in their line of costume contacts known as Wild Eyes.  There is also a popular line of theatrical contact lenses from Cooper Vision called Crazy Lenses.  For most people, theatrical contact lenses will be more than sufficient to get the job done.  However, scleral contact lenses which cover the entire surface of the eye may be necessary to achieve some effects.  Scleral contact lenses cover the entire white of your eyes.  Be sure you are aware of any special instructions that come with your particular brand and type of colored contacts.

You may be surprised at how affordable a single pair of Halloween costume lenses has become thanks to mass production and modern technology.  Be sure to shop around for the best price, because you can now find costume contact lenses at your optometrist, Halloween costume stores, and online.  Of course, if you want to go the extra mile, you could instead get custom, handpainted contacts at a higher cost.  They will need to be ordered several weeks in advance to ensure that they are completed by the time you need them for Halloween.

Contact lenses to transform your eyes into cat eyes are available for both prescription and non-prescription wearers.  Whether you have perfect vision, glasses, or contacts already, you can dress your eyes up so that they won't betray you in your costume.

If you have never worn contact lenses, you should consult with your optometrist about a pair of novelty contact lenses.  It is an important part of the process whether you are getting non-prescription or prescription contacts.  They will fit the contact lenses to your eyes and teach you how to insert and care for your contact lenses.  Even though you are probably only going to wear them one (or maybe two) nights of your life, it is important to take the proper precautions with your eyes, because you will need them for your whole life!  You will want to start wearing your contact lenses a few days before the party for a few hours at a time at home to get used to them.  It will give you practice taking them out and putting them in so that you aren't completely frustrated by the process before your big Halloween party.  You should also plan to bring lubricant drops so that you can remedy the situation if you begin to feel discomfort from your contacts.

If you usually wear corrective contact lenses, your novelty contact lenses shouldn't feel any different than usual.  You will need to make sure you have a current prescription as you will need it even if you order your costume contacts online.  As far as care, you should take the same precautions with costume contact lenses as you do with any contacts.  Wash your hands with soap and dry them with a lint free paper towel.  Ensure that their are no rips or tears in your contact lens, and that they are clean and dirt free.  If you plan on wearing them a second time, be sure to put them in a contact case with contact lens solution.

It is also recommended that you don't wear your Halloween lenses for more than eight hours and don't fall asleep in them.  Costume lenses are a bit thicker than normal corrective contacts and aren't as breathable as normal contacts.
